While Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were taking their “Small step for Man” Will Humphreys was taking the “Giant Leap” from Art-College-student to budding entrepreneur as his fledgling business, Humphreys Signs, came into being.
Fifty five years on, following ongoing and substantial investment in state-of-the-art equipment and technology, Will Humphreys and his dedicated team, known collectively as Humphreys Signs, can produce the perfect sign for whatever their customer’s requirements may be. Ideal placement for an experienced or trainee printer.
Duties/Responsibilities
We have a position in our sign making factory for one experienced, or suitably apt trainee, to work with our screen printing and digital printing teams, alongside our manufacturing, installation and packing departments.
The successful applicant will initially work as part of an experienced screen-printing team. The applicant should be computer literate and preferably have experience in the screen-printing industry, but not essential as training can be provided.
There will be some heavy lifting involved on a day-to-day basis, along with the possibility of some occasional work at heights from ladders or scaffolding when aiding our sign installers, although not in the first instance.
The work involves traditional screen printing using manually operated tables, manufacture of screens, cleaning of screens, loading and unloading from drying racks. There will also be some work operating state of the art printing and cutting machinery.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Personal Qualities
A clean and methodical work ethic will be required to be successful in our organisation. Attention to detail, consistency of work at a high standard, good time-keeping, and a conscientious attitude is a pre-requisite for this job.
The position will require the successful applicant to be adaptable and to help out in all departments wherever necessary. There may be some installation work which will take place outside of the factory and will involve all aspects of the sign installation process.
A full driving licence is preferable but not essential.
