The Oak Tree Centre is a Children’s Integrated Centre operated by Denbighshire County Council and was established in 2005 to meet the needs of children and families in the South and South West Rhyl areas. The Centre provides many services for families from maternity care up to youth services. The child-care started with just one playgroup room caring for 16 children and has grown, due to demand, to become The Oak Tree Childcare Centre. We are able to care for up to 77 children at any one time and offer parents and their families’ affordable childcare to enable parents to return to work or training. We are now able to care for babies from 8 weeks old to growing boys and girls all the way up to 12 years and in some circumstances beyond – providing consistency and stability up to and throughout their school years. The staff within our Centre believe in equality of opportunity and welcome all children.
Christ the Word Childcare opened at the new 21st Century Catholic School in September 2019. We are able to care for up to 69 children at any one time and offer parents and their families’ quality, affordable childcare within the school’s faith ethos. We are able to provide care for growing boys and girls from the age of 2 years all the way up to 12 years and in some circumstances beyond – providing consistency and stability up to and throughout their school years. The staff within our setting believe in equality of opportunity and value the Catholic ethos of Christ the Word school and we welcome all children.
Duties/Responsibilities
Obtain insight into working within a CIW registered childcare setting for children aged 0 to 12 years old.
Work shadow/alongside the childcare development team to gain knowledge and skills of childcare learning and development within the foundation phase curriculum.
Assist with day to activities for children as planned within the rooms planning. Providing an enriched and stimulating learning experience for the children to thrive in.
To assist in the delivery and development of Little Acorns and Christ the Word Childcare provisions
Provide an inclusive enriched play environment and opportunities, in which children can develop physically, mentally and socially
Supervise the children at all times, ensuring that all policies and procedures are adhered to in accordance with legislation, regulation and CSSIW minimum standards (Estyn, ECERS, ITERS and Healthy Preschool initiative)
Assist in preparing the materials and activities in the room to aid the children’s play experiences and learning outcomes
Ensure all children are given the opportunity to participate and give their opinions, and are listened to and treated with respect
Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Personal Qualities
Ability to communicate well with children and adults
Ability to plan and organise activities for children.
Ability to work on own initiative and as Part of a team
Special Working Conditions
We have a rolling supply advert out and we are always looking for supply staff with the hope that they will progress onto becoming a full time member of the Childcare Development Team. We also work closely with Colleg Llandrillo Rhyl and will support staff to gain a childcare qualification whilst working within the setting, we provide opportunities for personal development and work with staff to help them complete any trainings they are signed up to
